Threshold is the melting pot and meeting point for all the peoples of the world. Its population numbers in the hundreds of thousands. Built from and over the ruins of the ancient capital of the Jeweled Empire, Threshold gains its name from the Gates found throughout the city. Created in the days of the Empire, each Gate provides immediate access to another part of the world – cities, seaports, and ancient ruins; deserts, jungles, and snowy mountain ranges; the dwarfholds of Beogrem and Kragoroth, the elven preserves of Suladulon and Tantrion, the mysteries of Godskull. There are dozens of Gates, with new ones periodically unearthed in the ruins beneath Threshold. The guardians of the Gates, known as the Gate Keepers, permit free passage to anyone and everyone, so long as they take no action to harm or impede this ancient magic.
